Nice to meet you, I'm Beatriz

A little about me:

I'm a clinical psychologist (CRP 03/36407), I work exclusively with women and I'm currently pursuing two postgraduate programs. I'm a postgraduate student in Women's Mental Health at Comportalmente and in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) at the Instituto Integrado em Psicologia (IIPSI). I believe every woman has a unique way of feeling, thinking and dealing with her own story. That is what guides my listening: being present, attentive, ethical and non-judgmental.

I work with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an approach I am also deepening through my postgraduate program at IIPSI. In CBT, therapy is not about me telling you what to do. It is work built together. We come to understand the relationship between what you think, feel and do and, from there, look for changes that make sense for your life and respect your pace.

I chose to work with women because I identify strongly with this audience and because I believe women's mental health needs a more specific perspective. For a long time, many studies in psychology and psychiatry were developed from an understanding more focused on men. This directly influences how some forms of suffering and symptoms in women are perceived, recognized and treated.

I also speak English fluently and work with Brazilian women who live abroad. I know that living far from home, adapting to a new culture and dealing with longing can bring challenges that aren't always easy to put into words.

There are no ready-made formulas. There is listening, science and respect for your pace and individuality, building together a path of autonomy and well-being.

Intercultural psychotherapy & Online care

Being far from home doesn't have to be a lonely burden.

Living abroad changes a lot. Your routine, your relationships, the way you connect with people and even the way you see yourself.

I lived this too. I lived in the United States for almost four years and I know that every experience of living abroad is unique. Even so, being familiar with some of these challenges helps me better understand what may lie behind adaptation, longing and all the changes that come with this experience. It is this perspective that I also bring to my practice.

Transnational Care

Having a Brazilian psychologist who speaks your language and knows the context you come from can make this therapy space more comfortable and make some conversations easier. At the same time, I know every experience of living abroad is different and that there is no single way to live migration.

Migration Grief & Adjustment

Living in another country can bring many changes at once. Culture shock, longing, difficulty adapting, changes in how you see yourself and even the loneliness of starting over can all be part of this experience. All of this can be talked about in therapy, with room for you to speak about what you are going through without judgment.

Language Barriers & Mother Tongue

Even when you are used to speaking another language, it isn't always easy to talk about deeper feelings in it. Some things simply seem easier to explain in our mother tongue. That is why you can have sessions in Portuguese or in English, whichever is more comfortable for you.

Care for Women in Brazil

My attention to cultural issues is not limited to women who live abroad. I also work with women who live in Brazil, considering each one's reality, history and context. After all, our culture, routine and the environment we live in also influence how we think, feel and deal with life.
